Life class and random dragon fly.
Here's some pictures from a recent life class and a photo of the dragon fly for Kaye's Millenium Green hanging on the studio wall. They're going to be painted by the children from the school next week and then installed ready for a celebration day in October- news to come.

That was the week that was.
So, in brief, I made a Butterfly and some legs and antennae for the Kayes Millenium Green Insects. We had another school party in making masks (see previous post), we had a new model on Thursday and I managed to get a charcoal drawing done, Andrew Warburton came to photograph the studio for HOST on photosynth. Photosynth is a seemingly clever piece of software that makes an interactive view of a scene from photos you take. Andrew's Panorama didn't work and I also tried to make one to no avail. If it does work I'll link it but for now make do with the large stitched panorama that it makes.
I also washed the car.

Gina finished...more or less.
Here's the painting of Gina, just finished this morning. Maybe some fiddling to do but it's pretty much done.

Figurative stuff
In between all the community projects and workshops, I'm getting a bit of drawing and painting done. The finer detailed painting is being rescued from a slobbery blobby disaster I made a couple of weeks ago. I tend to paint thick and loose, so it's difficult to retrieve a painting when it doesn't work out- there's usually too much paint to keep a sense of the drawing. The small portrait on the easel is of Martin- he's the 'everyday life model' blogger I mentioned in a previous post.

Masks
The last two weeks have seen the studio being visited by children from a large primary school in Huddersfield for their summer art adventure. This school sent students last year for four weeks and I have worked in the school several times since then. It was great to see so many familiar faces. The project this year is fairly straightforward- mask making. There are plans afoot to run a project making music and theatrical props with students from this school and another neighbouring primary, so the masks seemed appropriate.
